Prescription Drug Addiction?

Question by *~mama mari~*: Prescription drug addiction?
A friend of mine who has an addiction to Vicodin and Percoset is finally quitting YAY!! He spoke with his doctor today and was told they are prescribing a patch and a “taper”. What do they mean by “taper”? Does this mean they’re going to slowly wean him off the drugs, or start having having him take less and less each day? Or is it an actual pill or somthing of that sort that helps to wean him off the pills? Can someone please answer? I can’t find anything online.
People without real answers that don’t know what they are talking about need not answer. This is a real question that desrves real answers.

How Can Suboxtin Help Me With Drug Addiction ?

Answer by playground.love
Suboxtin or Suboxone (buprenorphine and naloxone) is used to treat opiate addiction… basically the drug itself is an opioid… Buprenorphine is the opioid and Naloxone blocks the effects of other opioids. The reason they use it even though it’s an opioid (it’s addictive) they believe it’s easier to quit than heroin, morphine, codeine etc. It doesn’t give you the same pleasant symptoms that people crave from those kinds of drugs, so they believe that’s why it’s easier to stop taking. So they switch you from whatever drug, onto this drug… then eventually get you off that drug. Because most people find it too intense to try and quit things like heroin cold turkey

Ah, easy question.
You have to think, “location, location, location”.

By the 1920s the more “westernized” countries – Europe, North America, Australia/New Zealand to name a few – were waking up to the serious issue of illicit drug usage and drug addiction on a GLOBAL level.
Medically. Economically. Politically. Socially. Financially.

The substances that most captured the attention of officials in the 1920s were opiates and, to a much lesser extent, cocaine and marijuana.

A psychological addiction is the desire to use a drug due to the effect it produces. Stopping usage of a drug that causes psychological addiction may cause unease and discomfort but will have no physical effects on the user. Marijuana is an example of a drug that causes psychological addiction. Psychological addiction is not always limited to drugs. Any activity that creates a feeling of euphoria that is craved to the detriment of other things can be a psychological addiction.
