To be able to force intervention if they know it is the best treatment for them in the long run?
Especially because of the harm it causes, like stealing from their parents, acting abusive, becoming very moody and irritated. In Australia the law is when a child is 16 you as a parent have no right to get help for them, they decide over you at 16, its wrong. What i am trying to say is they do not know what is best for them, should the laws not change, so you can enforce the necessary treatment, an addict dos not see what he is doing, the drug is controlling him. Here they say throw them out? What do you think? Is that all you can do.? Really

My 21 year old daughter is 7 weeks pregnant (1st child) and a herion addict. She has gone through detox several times in the past but never able to stay clean.
She wants to keep the baby but doesn’t know where to turn for help with her pregnancy in regards to the drug abuse (mainlining). Does anyone have suggestions? We live in IL, she has no job, insurance, etc.

I mean, you can’t have the law living with you, making sure you don’t abuse your child. So, i have listed some preventions. But can anyone give me some feedback? It would be greatly appreciated. I don’t need to know what to do AFTER the abuse. I need ways to prevent it BEFORE it happens.
See, this is where i am struggling. I can think of multiple ways to help after the abuse, but it is very hard to find ways to prevent it before abuse. I need some help. Anyone?

The Gov. has admitted that the war on drugs can not be won and it is a well known fact that if drugs were legal most kids would not even try them to start (Loses the rebellion factor). Other countries have stopped spending $ Billions on enforcement and put that $ into education and treatment all but eliminating drug abuse in these counties. More than 1/2 of the people in American prisons are there on drug convictions,is there a link between the $ being made by those who build and supply the prisons and the donations they make to our law makers. Mexico was 1 day from legalizing small amounts of drug possession to stop all killing in there country, Bush called the President of Mexico and the next day that plan was scrapped, If you follow the $ who stands to lose the most after the Drug cartels who would be put out of biz if drugs were legal?
