What Success Have You Had With in Patient Drug and Alcohol Treatment?

Question by antonia_deamicis: What success have you had with In Patient Drug and Alcohol Treatment?
I have a 19 year old son that has been taking most everything he can get his hands on for 7-8 months now. He says he has no addiction, just likes to “experiment” and when he isn’t on anything he’s too depressed to deal with life. I am scared to death that I will be burying him one day. The biggest issue right now, he is INSANE when he’s straight. He has no off switch at all, and talks and talks and talks so endlessly about all of his knowledge and opinions on everything that I can’t have a single thought of my own in my head because he will NOT SHUT UP! I feel desperate to get him into in patient, he is doing outpatient right now, it’s not enough. Thoughts from people who have gone through inpatient or have walked a loved one through it?

Question by getoffmyback: Is SUBOXONE a narcotic?

Best answer:

Answer by **Anti-PeTA**
Yes it is. 1. What are Suboxone and Subutex?

Subutex and Suboxone are medications approved for the treatment of opiate dependence. Both medicines contain the active ingredient, buprenorphine hydrochloride, which works to reduce the symptoms of opiate dependence.

2. Why did the FDA approve two medications?

Subutex contains only buprenorphine hydrochloride. This formulation was developed as the initial product. The second medication, Suboxone contains an additional ingredient called naloxone to guard against misuse.

Subutex is given during the first few days of treatment, while Suboxone is used during the maintenance phase of treatment.

How Do I Transfer My Mother to a Local Hospital or Treatment Center?

Question by The Unknown Avatar: How do I transfer my mother to a local hospital or treatment center?
She lives in Indiana and wants to come live with me. She’s being released from Rush Memorial Hospital in Chicago today and will start chemotherapy for cancer in a week. We are able to arrange what’s called a “Mercy Flight” to get her here but I don’t know all the logistics of transferring her Medicare/Medicaid and medical records to our state (Arkansas). I don’t even know where to start. Can anyone help?

Best answer:

Answer by raysny
12step rehabs have a slightly higher success rate than “free” AA, and they have about a 5% success rate at the end of one year, the same as quitting on your own.

Here’s a list of alcohol treatment methods, rated by effectiveness:

Note: twelve-step facilitation (rehabs) is # 37; AA is # 38.
