My husband has been addicted to alcohol for years now. Recently, I gave him an ultimatum. Either he gets himself treated, or I’m filing for divorce. He now agrees to having himself treated. I was just wondering whether anyone could give me any ideas on how to find a good addiction treatment center.

bring him to an AA meeting… he’ll get social support there. its totally by choice and its anoymous

“I found solace in volunteering at a drug rehabilitation center every weekend. I found solace in perhaps making a difference in the lives of those addicted to drugs and alcohol, a difference that, to my dismay, I never seemed to be able to make in my mother’s life.” My mother has a sixth grade education and has been addicted to crack cocaine and alcohol for over 25 years. She has done a lot just to fulfill her addiction.

Can a Teacher Be Fired for Asking a Student Where or How to Purchase Cocaine?
Question by mean_ugly_chick: Can a teacher be fired for asking a student where or how to purchase cocaine?
A teacher I work with checked herself into a drug treatment center to get help for cocaine addiction. While she was out on a medical leave, a student stepped forward and admitted that the teacher came to her and asked if she knew where or how she could get her hands on some cocaine. Unfortunately, I know this to be true because the teacher herself told me about her cocaine problem and that she had solicited drugs from that student. From what I am told, it is illegal to fire a person for having a substance abuse problem if they seek help on their own. However, I would like to know if asking a student changes that. I like this co-worker and I am glad she is seeking help, but I am very upset with her for involving a student. Furthermore, I am upset that our school and the teachers’ union are protecting her. Can the union keep her from getting fired?

I think this it what government should try to do, and hopefully would try to do if not for the interference of special interests.
Government should provide universal health coverage. The program could cover basic, less expensive costs, focusing on preventive care, initial diagnosis of problems, basic treatment, and emergency services. I believe this will do the most to provide for a healthy population while keeping expenses at a minimum.
