AA and NA does not work for people if they are not willing to change and accept that they have a problem. AA and NA are not for everyone, sometimes people are more willing and receptive to a harm reduction programme instead of a 12 step abstinence programme.

How to Force Someone With Mental Health Issues Into Treatment?

Question by Mike Stankiewicz: How to force someone with mental health issues into treatment?
I believe a close friend of mine may be suffering from schizophrenia. She doesn’t believe anything is wrong, but is on the verge of losing her two children permanently. She is currently involved with social services, but they are treating it as a substance abuse problem. I need to know what can be done. She is of age, and refuses treatment. She lives in the state of Ohio, Cuyahoga County. More information can be provided if needed. Please anyone with any insight, it would be of great help.
