Is Her Drug Addiction My Fault?

Question by Lenora: Is her drug addiction my fault?
All throughout my life my mother has had a horrible drug addiction and pretty destructive relationships. Now I’m 19 and I planned on going to college but we couldn’t afford it so I’m doing community college. I still live with her and her drug abuse basically went away for a few months but now she’s doing it again.

My grandmother always calls me blaming me for my mom’s drug addiction. I have never been treated like a child in my family, everyone (including my mother) automatically made me the guardian of my mother so when she does drugs it’s suddenly my fault for not finding a way to stop her. Recently I stopped talking to her very much because the violence between her and her fiance has been directed towards me now. My grandma says that me ignoring my mother is what caused her to relapse and it’s my fault.
