Psychiatric Ward and Self Injury Treatment Center?

Question by : Psychiatric ward and self injury treatment center?
First off, this is going to be a bit long.
I’m fourteen.
I have ADHD (If that matters.)
In March 2011, I started self injuring myself with my fingernails.
In April it turned into using a pocketknife.
I cut as deep as I could with the blade, but it wasn’t very sharp. I still made every cut bleed though.
I cut on my wrists, my legs, and on my stomach.
I wore sweatshirts and never wore a bikini or something that would show my cuts.
In early July I told my mom that I cut and she told me to stop or she would send me to the hospital. I promised her I would, but later that day I cut again. And the next day. And I kept cutting all the way up to last night without telling her. But last night I broke down and told my brother everything.
I also have constant mood swings that have nothing to do with menstrual cycles, because I have POS (Polycystic Ovary Syndrome) so I do not often get periods. In these mood swings, I go directly from overly happy, straight to rage, and then to depressed. Repeat. My brother had a theory that this might be bipolar, and my manic phase could be taken in the form of my self injuring. I told my mom that night too. My brother also suggested Rehab, or a self injury treatment center.
Before the treatment center, I would probably have to wait a few days in the Psychiatric Ward until I can be sent to a center. I was wondering if I should go to Rehab, or the treatment center. I could also wait for my mom to find me a therapist, but honestly I don’t believe a therapist will help me.
I’m addicted to cutting and it makes all my pain go away, but I believe if I receive the help I need, I could stop. So I was wondering:
Should I go to Rehab or a self injury treatment center?
If the treatment center, what is the psych ward like?
Do they let you have outdoor breaks?
What do you do while there?
All knowledge about the psych ward would be appreciated.
What is a Self Injury Treatment Center usually like?
Do you get to go outside?
What do you do while there?
Are there other people your age?
Do you have internet access?
Do you have phone access?
Is there always one in your state? Or do I have to be shipped off somewhere? If so, how would that work?
How long do you stay for?
Any knowledge about a self injury treatment center would be greatly appreciated.
I apologize for the bulk of this question, but I truly believe I need help and that I can stop with the help of professionals. Without help though, I will never stop.

Where Can I Find Drug Rehabs in Ancora, New Jersey That Offer Affordable Treatment Programs?

Question by DARLENE E: Where can I find drug rehabs in Ancora, New Jersey that offer affordable treatment programs?
My sister is addicted to cocaine and some other substance called “E”. I know that admitting her to a rehab would be costly but I want her to be treated as soon as possible. We’re the only ones left in the family and I don’t want her life to be devastated by drugs. I can’t afford to send her to an exclusive treatment center so I’m asking for your help if you know of low-cost drug treatment rehabs in Ancora.

If Someone Is Over the Age of 18 Can You Admit Them Into a Rehab?

Question by Smelly: If someone is over the age of 18 can you admit them into a rehab?
I’m curious on the specifics of this. My sister is 24 and and alcoholic and we are not sure which drugs she is taking at this point in time. Does she have to go on her own or can we somehow make her go? She denies everything and says she isn’t doing anything.
Please give specifics if you know!

My friend has 2 felony drug possessions on her record. They were back in 2004 & 2006. She has served time and willingly entered into a drug rehab program. Her and her son are trying to make a fresh start and she desperately needs a job. So does anyone have any suggestions? She is willing to work any shift. Please help.

Your friend could try to get into the food service. Have to put down the convictions, but then also say that she entered into a treatment program. Good luck to your friend

Advice and 411 With Child Custody?

Question by Theresa: Advice and 411 with Child Custody?
Me and my husband are both 26. My husband works and I am a stay at home mom but I get unemployment from my previous job of 7 years. We do not smoke, drink, or do drugs nor have we ever done any of those expect drinking with friends maybe 3 times a year. lol. We provide a clean safe home and our children are very well taken care of. We both have cars and drivers licenses. I have a 5 year old, a 2 year old and a 3 month old. The 2 year old is a boy and he was from a previous marriage of 1 year which ended up in a dissolution. We have a custody agreement of shared parenting. the shared parenting was basically to just agree and get the divorce settled. It was 2009 when our dissolution was granted. He has never had a “home”. he has always lived here and there. I have been very careful as to when and where I will send my son. Theres been times where he hasn’t seen him in months. He has 3 other children to 2 other women. He has never been able to keep a job. hes over 2000 dollars behind in child support with me and im not sure how far behind he is with the other 3 children. He does not have his drivers license due to a DUI that resulted in him wrecking into a car and having no insurance. He has served jail time for that and still has not paid his fee’s. He has a history of drug abuse which I know consists of pot but i have heard from very reliable sources that he has done coke and crack. Recently he has “tried” to change and went to a rehab out of the state. He made everyone believe he was going to change and wasn’t coming back until he was. Well after 2 weeks he is back in town and is demanding to see our son. He is living in a bad neighborhood with a girl that i do not know. I am going to file papers for a “motion to change visitation”. I would like full custody. I no longer want my son to have to deal with that. I want my son to see his father but right now he can’t take care of himself. I live in Ohio. Would the judge, based on the info provided, rule in my favor? I am scared for my sons well being and safety but have been told that if he can pass a drug test that they wont grant it. He says hes been clean for 2 weeks….but i know that it wont last. I need help!

What Does It Take to Commit Someone Into Rehab???

Question by *Fickle Pickle*: What does it take to commit someone into rehab???
My sister is out of control (drug related) and my Mom wants to have her committed. She has no children & no husband. She is 27 yrs old. Can my Mom commit her w/out her being able to check herself out??? How does that work????

Best answer:

Answer by mapy455
She can be PC’d (protected custody) for a certain amount of time, but she would have to commit (section 12) herself. The only way to commit another adult is to go through the time consuming process of proving their incompetance and that they are a danger to themselves and the community through the court of law.
